How It All Began.......

This was a time when Sunday mornings meant church. There were no negotiations, no arguments, no alternatives. My siblings and I would traipse to sunday school, whilst my parents would go to 'adult church'. A few years later, I transitioned into 'adult church'. Most days service would seem tedious and I would be counting down to when service would end and we could head home for Sunday lunch.
On one of these Sundays, the pastor suggested to us youths; "to get a notepad and jot what you hear on a sunday". Well this was a revelation to me! As a dreamer and doodler, I came back armed with my favourite purple notepad, and doodled away, whilst noting key themes I was drawn to in the sermon.
Around about this time, I started growing into knowing, owning and walking my Christian faith. I yearned to know and learn more (for myself as opposed to an activity I engaged in because I didn't have a choice) and to move to the next stage in my life. I continued going to church independently as an adult, not because of an expectation from my parents now, but because I believed that this helped me make sense of my purpose on earth, helped give me a sense of direction and even hope in difficult times.
Over time, I had a small collection of notepads, and transitioned to notes on my phone. But I still have my journals, which I continue to treasure. They may be somewhat tattered, but have survived the numerous moves I have made over the years.
Every now and then I go through these notes, and they are a good reminder, not only of words of faith, and promises from the bible, but also my application of these to life and how it affects my worldview.
These days, Sunday mornings may mean being in a church service, serving at sunday school, taking a bike ride, a jog or just enjoying quietness and stillness in nature.
Notes on a Sunday morning, have evolved from just notes during a Church service, to general reflections on life. However this still remains largely around faith, because this is the lens with which I see much of the world.
As I continue on this journey, it is my hope that sharing thoughts and musings both from past and current times, causes you to ask some questions, and brings some encouragement, but most of all, that it brings hope!
